Meaning "Judge" Dan is the fifth born son of Jacob & concubine Bilah. According to the census in Numbers Dan was the second biggest tribe only to Judah. Their inheritance placed them on the coastal plain. Pressured by the infamous Philistines the judge Samson would arise from this Tribe.
